India, Aug. 14 -- Student organisations at Delhi University are gearing up for another year of campus politics with the university announcing September 18 as the date for the DUSU elections, setting the stage for contests between major groups including the ABVP, NSUI, SFI and AISA. The polling for the 2026-27 academic session will be held on September 18, and the counting of votes will take place on the same day, according to a notification issued by the university on Thursday. The last date for filing nomination papers has been fixed as September 10. Candidates can submit their papers, along with a Rs 500 demand draft and affidavits, till 3 pm that day. Scrutiny will be held at 3:15 pm, followed by publication of the list of duly nominated candidates by 6 pm. Students attending day classes will vote between 8:30 am and 1 pm, while those attending evening classes will vote from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. The university had earlier appointed Raj Kishore Sharma from the Department of Chemistry as the chief election officer and librarian Rajesh Singh as the chief returning officer for the 2026-27 polls. The appointments, notified on August 5, marked the beginning of preparations for the annual elections. DUSU polls will be held on September 18, with student groups preparing candidates and campaigns. Last year, ABVP won three of four central panel posts.
