Lucknow, Oct. 30 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday promised to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttar Pradesh if the BJP returns to power for a third consecutive term in the 2027 Assembly elections, signalling that the issue would be a key part of the party's electoral agenda.

Addressing the BJP's state executive committee meeting at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University auditorium, Shah expressed confidence in the party's victory, asserting that no force could dislodge the BJP government in the state.

"Form the government for the third time in Uttar Pradesh and we will implement the Uniform Civil Code here as well," he told party leaders and workers.

Targeting the Samajwadi Party, Shah invoked the October 30, 1990, firing on Ram devotees in Ayodhya during the Mulayam Singh Yadav government and contrasted it with the BJP's construction of the Ram temple.

"You opened fire on Ram devotees, while we built the Ram temple. The people will not forgive you, not even your third generation," he said, questioning the opposition's claim to govern the state.

He also recalled former chief minister Kalyan Singh's role during the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya, saying he had acted without worrying about the consequences for his government.

Describing the BJP's position in Uttar Pradesh as unshakeable, Shah compared it to Angad's foot, which nobody could move.

On allegations of vote theft, the Home Minister accused the Congress and Samajwadi Party of blaming the umpire after losing elections. He said the BJP was prepared to discuss every issue in Parliament and challenged the opposition to participate in a special session.

Praising Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Shah said his government had freed the state from the influence of mafias through firm governance. He urged party workers to prepare for the 2027 elections and work towards securing a third consecutive victory.

Recalling the BJP's electoral journey, Shah said the party had just 44 MLAs in 2014 but subsequently won 73 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh with a 41 per cent vote share in that year's general elections. He also cited its 2017 Assembly victory, when it secured 312 seats with around 40 per cent of the votes, as an example of organisational consolidation.
