Chandigarh, May 13 -- With the sweeping win of BJP candidate Sham Lal Bansal by 35,735 votes and MC elections further highlighting the saffron party's strong hold in urban pockets of Haryana it definitely revealed the poor planning and communication in the political strategy of Haryana Congress.

BJP won 17 of 20 wards and the massive margin in the mayoral underlined the incline of urban voters in Panchkula towards governance visibility and political stability rather than traditional Opposition narratives.

BJP mayor candidate Sham Lal Bansal got 66,593 votes while Congress's Sudha Bhardwaj got 30,856.

Political luminaries believe that the Congress struggled to build a convincing campaign that focussed on city-related issues and its development. The saffron party's time and again campaigned about roads, sewerage, drainage, sanitation and infrastructure while the Congress continued to merely react. The BJP was yet again successful in building a narrative of a party that plans and executes consistently while Congress miserably failed to create such an image.

Political experts also believe that the appropriate alchemy of mobilisation of workers at booth level, meticulous planning and robust organisational structure led to BJP's landslide victory.

Meanwhile, the Congress party continued to raise doubt on the working of the elections machinery and alleged irregularities.

Also, the city witnessed a poor voter turn out at 53.4 per cent. According to information, the voter turn out was better in rural belts, villages bad colonies while urban wards witnessed lesser turn out.

As per political analyst the results indicate dominance of BJP among urban voters in Haryana.

As the counting progressed on May 13 indicating a sweeping win for the BJP candidates, it become clear that the people still have faith in BJP leadership despite anti-incumbency.

The notable successes in Sonipat, Ambala, and Panchkula, along with widespread support across other municipal bodies, indicates that the public has endorsed a positive and result-oriented approach to governance.
