Kolkata, Sept. 3 -- The Bengal BJP is set to launch a two-month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' across the state from September 17, PM Modi's birthday, combining a mass outreach drive with an effort to showcase the achievements of the BJP government in Bengal and the Centre.
As part of the campaign, BJP leaders and workers will go door-to-door to interact with people and beneficiaries of government schemes. The party also plans to engage younger voters through meetings and interactions with college and university students over a month.
A key feature of the campaign will be 'Aashirbad Ka Diya', under which BJP booth workers will visit beneficiaries on the evening of September 17 and invite them to light a lamp at their homes. The initiative is intended to symbolise gratitude for Modi's 25 years in public life and a collective resolve towards the goal of a 'Developed India 2047'.
The lamp-lighting campaign will also have a digital component. Beneficiaries will be encouraged to record videos of the ritual, which will be circulated through WhatsApp as part of a wider social media campaign.
The BJP's central office is preparing a Hindi master video, which state units will adapt into local languages while retaining the same theme and concept. A theme song and short documentary are also being prepared.
The Bengal BJP plans to use beneficiary lists from various state government schemes to organise the booth-level outreach, with workers tasked with contacting beneficiaries directly.
State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya said the campaign would be part of a nationwide programme marking Modi's birthday. He highlighted the Centre's welfare initiatives and economic performance, claiming the government had expanded food support while maintaining existing welfare schemes.
The campaign is expected to serve both as a public outreach exercise and an opportunity for the BJP to consolidate its grassroots presence in Bengal.
