Noida, Oct. 1 -- The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Ghaziabad Branch Office, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Ecology, organised a "Manak Manthan" programme at NITS, Noida, to seek stakeholder views on the Draft Indian Standard, "Circular Economy in the Construction Sector - Framework, Principles and Definitions."

G Bhavani, Scientist-F, Senior Director & Head, BIS Ghaziabad Branch Office, said stakeholder consultations make standards more practical and inclusive. Dr S Bhaskar, Scientist-G & Head, Advanced Materials Laboratory, CSIR, Chennai, highlighted circular economy's role in resource efficiency and sustainable development.

Aditya Chandra, Chief General Manager, NBCC (India) Ltd, stressed resource reuse, recycling and waste reduction, while M.R.R.N. Jindal, Chartered Engineer and Policy Expert, emphasised policy support, standardization and capacity building.

Raj Kumar, Scientist-C & Deputy Director, BIS Ghaziabad, outlined BIS's standardization and quality-protection role. Lalit Yadav, Scientist-C & Deputy Director, BIS, presented the draft standard.

A stakeholder session discussed construction waste management, recycled materials, resource efficiency and sustainable practices. Sharvan Kumar, Scientist-B & Assistant Director, BIS Ghaziabad, delivered the vote of thanks.
