Kolkata, Sept. 2 -- TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien and party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee's personal assistant, Sumit Roy, appeared before the investigating officers at the Shakespeare Sarani Police Station on Wednesday for questioning regarding the clash over a billboard removal last week at 9 Camac Street.
Derek, who had skipped the initial summons on Monday citing pre-scheduled commitments, arrived at the police station on Wednesday around 10 am. Roy followed shortly after. Both of them were questioned by the investigators regarding their presence and role during the August 27 incident outside the TMC party office on Camac Street.
At around 3 pm, Derek came out of the police station. Despite questions from media persons, Derek did not speak about anything. After a few hours, Roy also left the police station following more than five hours of questioning. Meanwhile, TMC leader Baiswanor Chattopadhyay has been summoned on Thursday for questioning in connection with the same case.
It may be mentioned that the case stems from a violent scuffle that broke out when civic workers and police personnel attempted to dismantle an unauthorised billboard erected outside the party office.
