Patna, Aug. 28 -- Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday tied a Raksha Sutra to a tree at Rajdhani Vatika-1 here, marking Raksha Bandhan and Tree Protection Day. He, on the occasion, also planted a Nagalingam sapling.

The state-level Tree Protection Day programme was organised by the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department with the aim of creating awareness among people about the environment, encouraging protection of plants and promoting tree plantation on a larger scale.

Environment, Forest and Climate Change minister Ramchandra Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary of the department Anand Kishore, Chief Minister's Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Special Secretary of the department Alok Kumar and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Arvinder Singh were among those present at the programme.
