Kolkata, Sept. 9 -- The West Bengal government is set to introduce the West Bengal Universities and Colleges (Administration and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, in the Assembly's special Session on Thursday, proposing mutual transfers of teaching and non-teaching staff between state universities.
The move seeks to optimise human resources and enable newer institutions and universities with limited infrastructure to benefit from experienced faculty and administrative personnel.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the proposed system would improve the deployment of manpower and strengthen teaching, research and administrative efficiency.
The exchange of experienced personnel, he added, would aid institutional development.
The Bill is scheduled for introduction during the special Assembly session. Meanwhile, Speaker Rathindra Bose will attend a Commonwealth Parliamentary Association seminar in Cape Town from September 13 to 19.
He will later meet non-resident Bengalis in the US and UK to highlight changes in the state.
