Kolkata, Oct. 11 -- With the West Bengal Chief Minister going to declare the industrial policy of the state post Puja, Industry minister Tapas Roy will visit Navi Mumbai after Diwali to woo investors.

Roy will travel to Navi Mumbai to explore fresh investment opportunities in the state, signalling the BJP government's push to position Bengal as a destination for an investment-friendly state.

Roy's proposed visit follows Adhikari's recent Mumbai outreach, to meet Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and director Anant Ambani to discuss potential investments in IT, semiconductors and biogas. The state government is now seeking to broaden its engagement with mid-sized industrial groups that could expand their existing operations or establish new projects in Bengal. State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya said on Sunday that Roy was invited by a group of industrialists based in Navi Mumbai. Several members of the group have links with Bengal, including two who operate large industrial units in Bengal.

They are keen to explore opportunities to bring additional investors to Bengal, the BJP president said. The discussions are also expected to focus on how Bengal can compete with other states in attracting industry, particularly through appropriate incentives, land availability and a business-friendly policy framework.

The outreach comes amid the state government's efforts to formulate a new industrial policy, develop a land bank and improve ease of doing business. For Bengal, Roy's visit will be an important step in the government's attempt to rebuild

investor confidence.
