India, July 29 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken up the case of four workers who died and two who were seriously injured in an explosion at a metal processing factory in Assam's Cachar district on a suo motu basis. The Commission arrived at the decision after reading reports in the media about the incident that occurred on July 26, 2026. According to the reports, molten metal is said to have spilled over the workers after an explosion in the factory, claiming the lives of four people and leaving two others injured. Over a hundred workers are said to have been present in the factory at the time of the incident. The NHRC, while taking note of the reports, said that in the event of their being found to be true, they raise serious issues of violation of human rights of the factory workers.
