New Delhi, Aug. 25 -- Two alleged arms suppliers linked to the Bambiha and Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gangs have been arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch in connection with a firing incident arising from a property dispute, police said.
The accused were identified as Harmanjit Singh, 23, of Amritsar, Punjab, and Harshdeep Singh alias Billa, 22, of Ludhiana. An alleged supplier, Waseem alias Hazi Waseem, 40, of Meerut, was also arrested in the case.
Police said Waseem had supplied weapons to gang shooters and was allegedly involved in the August 16 firing at the residence of Umed Singh in Chhawla.
He was arrested around 11.55 pm on August 24 after being traced through a tip-off. When surrounded, Waseem allegedly fired at the police, prompting Head Constable Ravish Kumar and Constable Deepak Kumar to fire a warning shot before overpowering him.
Police said Waseem also supplied weapons in the January 27 murder of Tariq Hasan in Seelampur and had supplied the pistol allegedly used by Shahrukh Pathan during the 2020 north-east Delhi riots. Waseem has previous convictions in murder, attempt-to-murder and Arms Act cases.
