India, July 24 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday virtually launched 'Me Bhumi', a blockchain project on a pilot basis, aimed at offering "permanent protection" to land records. Developed by the Revenue Department employing blockchain technology, 'Me Bhumi' will identify every land parcel with a digital identity to enable tamper-proof transactions with security, said an official press release. "Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu virtually launched Me Bhumi from the secretariat," it said, adding that blockchain technology will eliminate the double registration problem. Due to improper land records, the CM said, cheating was occurring with respect to valuable lands, adding that land litigations are higher in Andhra Pradesh compared to Telangana.According to Naidu, land disputes inflated in Andhra Pradesh because of the alleged policies of the erstwhile YSRCP government. Focusing on sanitising, security and other aspects, he said land disputes are being resolved, including state-wide surveys, cleaning up records and embossing pattadar passbooks (land documents) with the official seal. Naidu noted that decades-old land disputes in Settypalli, Vattichekuru, Kangundhi and Gutupalli villages were resolved, underlining that the 'Me Bhumi - Blockchain' project will offer "permanent protection" to lands. With blockchain technology, the CM said Revenue, Survey and Registration wings will converge onto one single platform to undertake "issueless" transactions.
