India, Aug. 18 -- The Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences (RPC), AIIMS New Delhi, on Sunday launched the Modulated Retina Training Programme at the National Retina Skill Development Centre, a first-of-its-kind facility aimed at strengthening retinal care across India. Launched by RPC chief Prof Radhika Tandon and Roche India Healthcare Institute (RIHI) director Rajji Mehdwan, the programme has been developed in partnership with RIHI to provide hands-on training, research and innovation in retinal diseases. The Centre's Retina Skill Lab CORE (Comprehensive Retinal Education) is equipped with high-resolution OCTs, fundus cameras and specialised microscopes. It plans to train over 100 ophthalmologists from the public health system over three years through eight structured modules covering early detection, diagnosis and management. With retinal disorders among the leading causes of irreversible vision loss, the initiative aims to expand specialist skills and help reduce preventable blindness.
