Kolkata, July 31 -- Amid nationwide protests over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy and after the Centre has tightened law against it, Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Friday criticised the BJP-led Centre as another alleged examination paper leak surfaced in BJP-ruled Odisha.
Reacting to reports of the alleged question paper leak during a postgraduate medical examination, Banerjee said repeated leaks had become a "defining feature" of the BJP government's education system.
"Yesterday it was NEET. Today it's the Odisha PG Medical Exam. Tomorrow it'll be another exam," he wrote on social media.
He alleged that every compromised examination shattered the dreams of lakhs of students and accused the government of failing to protect the integrity of public examinations.
Banerjee questioned why accountability remained "an afterthought" despite repeated controversies.
The Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) has ordered an internal inquiry after photographs of the question paper from its General Surgery theory examination for the 2023-26 MS/MD batch were allegedly circulated on WhatsApp while the examination was still in progress on July 27.
Officials said the images appeared to have been taken from inside an examination hall, suggesting that someone may have bypassed security checks by carrying an electronic device into the centre.
The investigation is now focused on identifying how the paper was photographed and shared before the examination concluded.
The alleged leak has triggered fresh concerns over examination security, coming months after the NEET UG paper leak controversy prompted the Centre to tighten laws against examination fraud. The Oppositions have criticised the BJP government after the report emerged.
