New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- The Delhi Traffic Police issued 915 challans for wrong-side driving and registered FIRs during a drive in the New Delhi Range over the week.
The drive focused on intersections, median openings, service roads and market areas to curb shortcuts and improve lane discipline. Across Delhi, 33,005 challans for wrong-side driving have been issued in 2026, with 417 FIRs registered.
Meanwhile, the Southern Range conducted anti-encroachment drives on September 19 and 20 with police to ease movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Teams issued 829 challans for improper parking, including 266 e-challans and 563 notices, removed 98 rehri-patri structures and towed eight vehicles.
The drives targeted unauthorised parking, roadside shops and obstructions causing congestion and forcing pedestrians onto carriageways.
Police said such operations will continue at vulnerable locations.
