New Delhi, Sept. 17 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party has planned a month-long nationwide outreach campaign from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 76th birthday and 25 years in public service. The campaign will include lamp-lighting programmes, public events, cultural activities and outreach through social media influencers.
The campaign, titled "Seva Sankalp Abhiyan", will begin on Modi's birthday on September 17. The BJP has linked the month-long programme to Modi completing 25 years as an elected public representative on October 7, 2026. One of the key initiatives is "Aashirwad Ka Diya", under which BJP workers and supporters have been encouraged to light earthen lamps at homes, religious places and other locations. The programme is planned across several states, with large-scale lamp-lighting events scheduled in Gujarat and other parts of the country.
The party has also planned cultural programmes, including street plays and other public performances, as part of the outreach campaign. These activities are intended to highlight different aspects of Modi's public life and the initiatives associated with his years in public office. Another component of the campaign involves social media influencers. According to the plans, influencers will participate in programmes and activities linked to the month-long celebrations, helping extend the campaign's reach across digital platforms. The BJP has also scheduled a bike rally connecting Vadnagar in Gujarat, Modi's birthplace, with Varanasi. The journey is planned as part of the celebrations marking his 25 years in public service and is expected to pass through multiple states and districts.
In Gujarat, large-scale lamp-lighting events have been planned. Reports said more than 88 lakh earthen lamps were scheduled to be lit at thousands of locations across the state as part of the celebrations. The campaign will also include activities such as blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, health-related programmes and other public-service initiatives, according to plans announced by the party. The BJP's programme comes as Modi completes more than a quarter-century in public life. He became Gujarat chief minister on October 7, 2001, and has served as prime minister since May 2014.
The month-long schedule combines political outreach with cultural and public-service activities, with events planned across states and through both physical programmes and digital platforms.
