
New Delhi, Sept. 7 -- A 35-year-old person succumbed to injuries in a multi-vehicle accident near NIDM in Rohini, with police apprehending the accused who drove Eicher truck allegedly responsible for the fatal vehicular mishap.
The police were alerted about the incident through a PCR call received at the Shahbad Dairy Police Station.
According to the police, the accused, Munna Lal (55), was arrested by a team of Shahbad Dairy police station in the vicinity shortly after the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Balbir Singh, son of Sohan Singh, a resident of Prakash Vihar in Sector 28, Rohini.
The victim Singh was shifted to Maharishi Valmiki Hospital (MV Hospital) following the accident but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
At least three people were injured in the crash, with efforts currently being made to trace and identify the other injured persons.
The incident came to light after police received a PCR call, with a team of Shahbad Dairy police station reaching the spot.
On arrival, officers found an e-rickshaw bearing registration number DL-11-ED-0884 in an accidental condition. A motorcycle, bearing registration number DL-8SDE-8816, was also found entangled underneath an Eicher truck bearing registration number HR-37E-6655.
During the preliminary enquiry, eyewitnesses allegedly told police that the truck driver was driving in a rash and negligent manner and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
The witnesses further alleged that the driver failed to stop the truck despite being asked to do so.
Acting swiftly on the information gathered at the scene, police traced and apprehended the truck driver, Munna Lal, son of Sarjan Chouhan, a native of Songar village under Kitasara police station in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
