New Delhi, July 30 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will launch the Delhi government's 'Vidya Vahini' initiative on Friday by distributing bicycles to 3,000 Class IX girl students at a programme at the Sports Complex in East Vinod Nagar. The government plans to distribute a total of 1.40 lakh bicycles to schoolgirls across the capital in phases over the next one month.
According to the Chief Minister's Office, the initiative aims to make commuting to school easier, improve attendance and promote independence among girl students.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government was committed to ensuring that no girl is deprived of education due to distance, lack of resources or transport-related challenges.
"Vidya Vahini is not merely a bicycle, but a vehicle for the dreams, confidence and brighter future of Delhi's daughters. We want every girl in Delhi to reach school safely and without fear, receive quality education, and achieve every goal she sets for herself," she said.
