New Delhi, Aug. 27 -- Twenty-three Principals of the Directorate of Education, GNCTD, have been promoted to the post of Deputy Director of Education after Delhi L-G Sardar TS Sandhu approved their elevation at Level 12 of the pay matrix with immediate effect.

The promotions cover vacancies for 2025 and 2026. the promoted officers will move from managing individual schools to taking on responsibilities involving multiple institutions and district or zone-level education administration, including curriculum implementation, resource allocation and quality standards.

The approval follows a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting held at the UPSC on August 6, 2026, for the promotion of Principals to the post of Deputy Director of Education.

The UPSC subsequently forwarded its recommendations to the Directorate of Education. As the LG is the appointing authority for the Group 'A' post of Principal, the file was placed before him for approval after receiving clearance from the Chief Secretary of Delhi. The previous DPC for the post was held on July 1, 2025, when 16 vacancies for the year 2024 were filled.

The latest DPC covered vacancies for 2025 and 2026, resulting in the promotion of 23 Principals.

With the new postings, the officers will have responsibilities extending beyond a single campus, overseeing multiple institutions and contributing to education policy and standards across a district or zone.
