India, July 31 -- A 20-year-old daytime caretaker was allegedly shot dead inside a residential building in Delhi's Keshav Puram by the building's night caretaker on Wednesday, police said. Police received a PCR call regarding the incident at Keshav Puram police station and reached a building in Shanti Nagar, where they found the woman's body in a room on the third floor. She was found lying in a pool of blood and had allegedly sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The deceased, identified as the daughter of Kailash and a resident of Azadpur, worked as the daytime caretaker of the building. Police said the suspected accused, identified as Saurabh, worked as the building's night caretaker and was allegedly in a relationship with the victim. He reportedly fled the scene following the incident and is currently being searched for.

During the preliminary investigation, police suspect that a personal dispute may have led to a rift between the two, following which Saurabh allegedly shot the woman and fled. A crime team and forensic science laboratory personnel were called to the spot and examined the room and surrounding area to collect evidence. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to establish the sequence of events and confirm the cause of death. Police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused. Investigators are also examining the alleged relationship between the two and the possible motive. Further evidence and forensic reports are awaited.
