Ghaziabad, Sept. 13 -- A 17-year-old Class 12 student allegedly died by suicide at her Vaishali home on August 24, days after she was allegedly subjected to bullying, public humiliation and threats by a classmate and his family, police said. An FIR has now been registered against the student, his parents and brother for alleged abetment of suicide under Section 108 of the BNS.
The girl, a student of a private English-medium school in Delhi's Anand Vihar, was found hanging in her room. No suicide note was recovered and her parents did not initially approach the police.
The alleged harassment came to light later when the family checked her mobile phone and WhatsApp conversations. According to her father's complaint, the girl had been facing "bullying, social exclusion, abuse, humiliation and harassment". She had also stopped attending school three days before her death, but the family did not realise the seriousness of the situation.
Police said preliminary examination of WhatsApp chats and clips showed bullying after the girl left the accused classmate's group, prompting her to stop attending classes.
