NEW DELHI, May 17 -- A 10-year-old boy drowned in a private swimming pool in north Delhi's Jagatpur area on Sunday, with family members alleging negligence and absence of safety measures at the facility.

The victim, identified as Sanskaar, had gone to the pool with his brother and friends when he was allegedly found unconscious in the water nearly half an hour later. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Family members alleged that no lifeguards or life jackets were present and claimed nobody noticed the child drowning for several minutes. Police said the pool was found unguarded and a case has been registered. Legal action against the pool owner is underway.
