KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 13 -- Over 80,000 out of 90,779 housing loan approvals under the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) have gone to Malaysians aged 40 and below since 2008, according to Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu.
She said borrowers aged 18 to 25 accounted for over 15,000 approvals, followed by 26 to 30 years old with more than 31,000, 31 to 35 with 22,356, and 36 to 40 with 12,799.
"Since its launch in 2008, SJKP has approved financing for 90,779 borrowers, totalling RM21.5 billion.
"Of these, nearly 90 per cent, or 89.56 per cent, are young Malaysians aged 40 and below," she told Dewan Rakyat today.
