PENAMPANG, Sept. 29 -- A 38-year-old local woman died after she was found unconscious on the ground behind a building in Donggongon here yesterday.

Penampang police chief Supt Sammy Newton said police received a report on the incident at about 12.36pm.

"Initial investigations found that the woman was believed to have fallen from the fifth floor of the building.

"She sustained serious injuries and died while being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital I in Kota Kinabalu at about 1.05pm," he said in a statement.

Sammy said the cause of the incident is still under investigation, and the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR). A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the actual cause of death.
