KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 -- Police have arrested two women in their 20s to assist investigations into the discovery of a baby's body outside a baby hatch in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said officers received a report at 8.10am regarding the discovery outside the facility on Jalan Bukit Gasing.

"A post-mortem examination on the baby has been conducted, and the doctor confirmed that the baby had died following a miscarriage.

"The baby was also confirmed to have died more than 24 hours earlier," he said in a statement today.

Shamsudin said further investigations led police to arrest the two women, both in their 20s, who are suspected of being involved in the incident.
