KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 -- A man and a woman were killed early this morning after their car veered off the road and crashed into a concrete pillar, causing the vehicle to burst into flames along Jalan Sungai Besi.

The victims, identified as colleagues aged 29 and 23, were reportedly travelling from a dinner event in the city centre toward the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT) chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, said the accident occurred at approximately 3:01 am, New Straits Times reported.
