KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 26 -- A 22-year-old traffic policeman was injured after being struck by a car while controlling traffic for the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V's convoy in Tumpat, Kelantan, yesterday.

The incident occurred at about 1.25pm at the Kampung Kepulau traffic-light junction in Palekbang, where the officer from the Tumpat district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division was closing the road from Morak towards Palekbang.

According to Harian Metro, Tumpat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Khairi Shafie said the road closure was to allow Sultan Muhammad V's convoy to pass as the Kelantan Ruler travelled to Friday prayers and a public feast held in conjunction with his 57th birthday celebrations.
