Three Malaysians detained in Taiwan over alleged scam mule activities
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 11 -- Three Malaysians were detained in Kaohsiung, Taiwan last month for allegedly acting as money mules for a scam syndicate.
Central News Agency (CNA) reported yesterday that the three male suspects, aged 18, 26 and 39, entered Taiwan as tourists before being detained separately, according to Berita Harian.
According to the report, Zuoying Police detained the 18- and 39-year-old suspects at several locations, including while they were making withdrawals at post office automated teller machines (ATMs).
The 39-year-old suspect was reportedly detained in front of a post office ATM, with police seizing NT$155,000 (RM19,050) in cash, two bank cards and a mobile phone.
