SINGAPORE, June 13 -- A 35-year-old woman has been jailed for five weeks after falsely telling police that her ex-boyfriend had raped her following consensual sex.

Liau Wan Ting was convicted on June 12 of providing false information to a police officer after she initially stood by the allegation during questioning, The Straits Times reported yesterday.

Court proceedings showed the claim arose after consensual sexual activity between Liau and her ex-boyfriend, identified only as A1 under a gag order.

The pair met in 2024 via TikTok, began a relationship that year, and continued seeing each other after breaking up in October 2025.
