Sarawak Immigration detains 42 foreigners over suspected immigration offences
Kuala Lampur, Aug. 12 -- KUCHING, Aug 12 - The Malaysian Immigration Department Sarawak has netted 42 foreigners suspected of committing various immigration offences.
The operations conducted by the Kuching enforcement division, from 10pm on Aug 10 to 3am yesterday, involved checks at three locations comprising shared houses and rented rooms around Jalan Merdang Limau, Kota Samarahan and Mile 6, Jalan Penrissen.
The department said 45 individuals were inspected during Ops Sapu and Ops Kutip, with 42 detained on suspicion of offences under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for unlawful entry and Section 6(1)(c) of the same Act for overstaying.
