MELAKA, Aug. 16 -- Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution will take over the duties of PKR's deputy president after incumbent Nurul Izzah Anwar announced she would "take leave".

Prime Minister and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the handover at the party's congress here this afternoon, where Nurul Izzah also gave a parting speech that called on the party to unite and galvanise its "differences" as a form of strength.

Anwar also gave full authority to PKR vice president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to direct the party's election campaigns, a move he suggested would streamline preparations and strategies to avoid confusion in the chain of command.
