KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 4 -- Authorities have urged residents to stay cautious following a rockfall near Mutiara Court Apartments in Taman Bukit Permai, Ampang, yesterday.
The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) confirmed that six vehicles were damaged in the early morning incident but no one was hurt.
The affected rocky slope, about 30 metres tall, lies some 20 metres from the apartment's Block 3.
MPAJ said its engineering team determined that the rockfall resulted from a "wedge failure" at around 12 metres above road level.
The slope had been covered with wire netting since 2010, but sections of it were torn by the falling rocks.
In response, MPAJ deployed a team to clear the debris, install safety ropes, and cordon off the area.
