GEORGE TOWN, Sept. 28 -- Penang is ramping up its efforts to attract fresh American capital and encourage existing US multinationals to expand their footprint in the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow will lead a strategic trade mission to the United States from today until October 5.

Organised by InvestPenang, the mission focuses on renewing ties with the corporate headquarters of American firms already operating in Penang.

"This effort aims to encourage the expansion of their Penang sites and attract new investments," a statement from the Chief Minister's Office confirmed.
