Kuala Lampur, Aug. 30 -- The timing of the PAS muktamar on September 4 and 5, just one week before the Umno general assembly on September 11 and 12 2026, is politically significant.

By meeting first, PAS has the opportunity to define the terms of the debate over Malay-Muslim political cooperation before Umno formally deliberates on its own direction.

This sequencing gives PAS an agenda-setting advantage. But it also reveals something deeper: the extraordinary tenacity with which PAS continues to lean on Umno for cooperation.

This persistence should not simply be interpreted as an ideological commitment to Malay-Muslim unity. It has an important electoral and geographical dimension.
