No new wage target, but economy minister says govt wants greater transparency in salary offers
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 7 -- The Economy Ministry is looking at ways to make salary offers more transparent and equitable, rather than setting an absolute wage target.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said wage growth was important to ensure the benefits of economic growth were felt by the people.
"Median wages are around RM3,600, but there is still a gap, particularly among the Bumiputera," he told reporters after a dialogue session at the Royale Chulan hotel here.
Akmal said greater transparency was needed in salary offers to ensure workers received fairer returns for their contributions.
