BANGKOK, June 18 -- A family argument over rent ended in dramatic fashion when a 29-year-old man drove his car into a swimming pool at a university campus after his mother refused to pay for his condominium.

The man was rescued and taken to hospital after his vehicle plunged into a pool at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok early yesterday, according to the Bangkok Post.

Police from Pathumwan station were alerted to the incident at about 5.45am, where they found the car submerged in the water.

The driver, who was the vehicle's sole occupant, was pulled to safety by emergency responders before being taken to Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital.
