KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 24 -- A steady crowd of 150 or so were present at yesterday's public forum marking 30 years since the death of former opposition leader Dr Tan Chee Khoon.

Jointly organised by Aliran and his youngest daughter Tan Poh Lai, the event at the KLSCAH is one of three subtitled Merdeka, Multiracialism and Dissent, Without Fear or Favour. Subsequent events are to be held on Sept 3 in Ipoh and Sept 5 in Penang.

For the uninitiated, Tan Chee Khoon was the official Leader of the Opposition in the Dewan Rakyat from 1964 to 1969. He was elected to Parliament in 1964 under the Labour Party, 1969 under Gerakan and 1974 under Pekemas.
