KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 -- A man in his 40s was killed and another rider was seriously injured when their motorcycles collided at a traffic-light junction near Masjid Taman Ria Jaya early this morning.

Harian Metro reported that the crash occurred at about 2.30am and that the deceased died at the scene from severe injuries.

It is believed that the collision happened when one of the riders allegedly ran a red light, although police are still investigating the claim.

Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said initial investigations showed the crash involved two motorcycles at the junction.
