SIBU, May 22 -- The Sessions Court here sentenced a 23-year-old man to a total of 30 years' jail and nine strokes of the cane for committing incest with his 14-year-old niece.

Judge Musyiri Peet imposed a sentence of 10 years' jail and three strokes of the cane for each of the three charges under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, and ordered the imprisonment to run consecutively.

The accused was charged with committing incest with his niece on three occasions, namely at around 2am on June 1, 2025 and around 11pm on June 2, 2025, and at around 8.30am on February 13, 2026.

All three offences took place in a room of a house in Kanowit.
