MIRI, Oct. 1 -- The Magistrates' Court here has fined a 33-year-old man in default one week's jail for shooting a stone at a child using a slingshot.

Magistrate Ashok Linggam convicted Erick Tunggan Lamah, 33, from Sungai Ban, Tanjong Bijat, Sri Aman on his own guilty plea to a charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 511 of the same Code.

The Section provides for up to one year in prison, or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, Erick admitted attempting to hurt the child by shooting a stone at him with a slingshot at around 4pm on Sept 24 in Kampung Lusut here.
