KOTA KINABALU, May 16 -- A 21-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate's Court here with threatening to cause death to a woman.

Muhammad Wahyu Abdullah pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to criminally intimidating one Sitti Aminah by threatening to cause death at a rented room on the first floor of Kampung Air here at about 12.30pm on May 5, this year.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both, on conviction.

The court set July 9 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on bail of RM1,200 in two sureties.

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man was fined RM2,800 or six months' jail for keeping a stolen wall fan.
