BUKIT MERTAJAM, Oct. 18 -- The body of a 52-year-old man was found in a drain near Taman Ciku here yesterday.

The discovery was reported to the authorities at about 4.30pm, prompting firefighters to head to the scene to recover the body, The New Straits Times reported.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the man died less than 24 hours before he was found.

His body was taken to Bukit Mertajam Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

Police are investigating the case.
