KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 -- A 22-year-old Malaysian man has been charged with murder after a 21-year-old woman was found dead at a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block in Singapore's Choa Chu Kang estate earlier this week.

According to The Straits Times (ST), Mohamad Faiz Umar was charged in court today over the death of Chua Bee Ting, who was allegedly killed inside a lift at Block 248 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2 on the night of May 26.

Court documents stated that the alleged murder took place between 8.53pm and 9.22pm.

Preliminary police investigations indicated that Faiz had allegedly stabbed Chua.

Authorities have said the pair knew each other, although details about their relationship were not disclosed in court documents.
