KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 -- Veteran singer-songwriter M. Nasir has filed a lawsuit against Grab-owned MyTeksi Sdn Bhd, seeking more than RM5 million in damages over the alleged unauthorised use of his name to market beverages on the company's platform.

According to New Straits Times, the 68-year-old music icon, whose real name is Datuk Mohd Nasir Mohamed, together with his company Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd, filed the suit at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur, naming MyTeksi as the sole defendant.

The plaintiffs alleged that MyTeksi had used the M. Nasir name and brand to sell and promote drinks under the label "Kegemaran M. Nasir" without obtaining his consent.
