KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 -- A real estate agent accused of the attempted murder of a single mother in Alor Setar has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak.

Ilhamni Badaruddin, 32, pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court in Alor Setar today to a charge of attempted murder under Section 307(1) of the Penal Code, Sinar Harian reported.

Judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini allowed Ilhamni to be referred to Hospital Bahagia following an application by his lawyer, Hakim Hamran.

Hakim had applied for a mental health assessment for his client, citing an alleged history of psychiatric and other health issues.

The prosecution did not object to the application.
