Ipoh-born Keane Wong's 'Afterpiece' journeys from Shanghai to New York before Malaysia premiere
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 23 -- For Ipoh-born filmmaker Keane T.K. Wong, the road to his feature film debut has taken him from Malaysia to Hong Kong and, eventually, back home.
Born to a Malaysian father, Wong moved to Hong Kong, his mother's hometown, in 2009 to study and hone his craft, hoping to gain experience and pursue opportunities in Chinese-language cinema at a time when Malaysia's film industry was still finding its footing.
Years later, that journey has culminated in Afterpiece, his debut feature - a film that explores the uneasy boundary between performance and reality.
