KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 21 -- PAS will join aligned Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties in challenging a notice to cancel the coalition's registration in court and preparing for the Melaka state election.

In a statement posted on Facebook today, PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party condemned the move, which was communicated through a notice from the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS) dated October 20.

PAS said the decision appeared to pre-empt a court ruling and restrict democratic rights guaranteed under the Federal Constitution.

The party also claimed the move reflected growing fear on the government's part.
