Family outing turns to tragedy as father and eight-year-old son drown off Pengerang
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 31 -- A family outing ended in tragedy when a 33-year-old father and his eight-year-old son drowned off the coast near a campsite in Pengerang, Johor, last night.
Utusan Malaysia reported that the victims were identified as Mohammad Nizam Zainal and his son, Muhammad Zamri Mikhail.
The pair were found unconscious after members of the public pulled them ashore near the campsite in Kampung Punggai before firefighters arrived.
Punggai Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Aldron Dey Judih@Judeh said an emergency call was received at 7.10pm.
Six firefighters were sent to the scene with a Fire Rescue Tender and a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
