KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 28 -- Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, wife of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, has died at the age of 100.

She died today at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.

The news was confirmed by her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, the New Straits Times reported

The announcement was also made during a townhall session at Parliament, surprising attendees. A brief Islamic prayer was held in her honour following the news.
