Director‑general and deputy of Environment Department expected in court over corruption case tied to e‑waste
PUTRAJAYA, April 2 -- The director-general of the Department of Environment (DOE) and its deputy director-general are expected to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow in connection with an investigation into electronic waste management.
Confirming the matter, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the charges would proceed following approval from the public prosecutor and the Attorney General.
"Regarding the Department of Environment case, we have already obtained the consent of the public prosecutor or the Attorney General, and it is expected that charges will be filed tomorrow against both the director-general and the deputy director-general.
